Port Aransas vacation

Vacation was nice. Port Aransas, Tx. We’ll probably go back one more time, soon, before it goes totally corporate and is ruined, like South Padre Island.
We stayed at Holiday Inn Port Aransas, nice hotel, great pool, close to beach, awesome breakfast. No balconies. We ended up hanging the clothes hangers from the closet on the shower rack to get our towels and bathing suits dry. Not a huge ordeal. The hotel provides pool towels so it was mostly beach stuff and we washed/dried it at the hotel (2 bux a load).
We ate at Shells (it’s right across the street from the hotel), pricey but worth it. Port A Pizzaria – Good pizza, all you can eat, they have issues keeping up with crowds so go early or late. Crazy Cajun – don’t waste your time, seriously overpriced for crappy food. Fins – nice view, food was awful.
For me, it’s all about the beach. Mustang Island is still wonderful. Drive down the beach away from everybody and just chill. The kids and B had a great time in the water. We bought boogie boards, a skim-board (B HAD to get the circle one instead of the easy to use one, so it spent most of the trip in the back of the truck. Live n learn), kids bought shirts, sunglasses and more crap. We ended up driving into Corpus, proper, hitting a K-mart on the way (no K-marts in North Tx), and went to the souvenier shops by the Radission (USS Lexington). Better prices, better selection.
All in all, I’d say the trip was a success.
Gonna start planning for next year’s.
